VM - Bill Explainer

Bill explainer is supposed to explainer how to read your paper or digital bill online. Existing bill explainer was firstly to difficult use and navigate. Second, it was not responsive and was in need on a visual update. We were first briefed to create an MVP mobile version. This was to show business there was potential for a whole new makeover as user did not know how to use the bill explainer itself.

Feedback outcomes - stemming from the first concept review:

  • Give the users more context

  • What could we do about the header?

  • Add a more visual solution

  • Improve navigation between questions / list of questions / bill image

Taking on this feedback we develop 2 new concepts.

Full redesign

After the success of the MVP mobile version of the bill explainers, showing significant uplift in usability in our A/B testing, we were asked by the client to redesign it from scratch.

Virgin Media

Originally lead UI design at RMA on the Virgin Media account, within a UX/UI agile team, working on multiple user experience journeys and work streams. Adhered too and improved upon, existing brand guidelines and applied a more atomic design structure, for the logged-in user (My Virgin Media), commercial and e commerce platforms (Virginmedia.com). This led to a more experience and product design role, manifesting in the creation of a managed service. This was a user centred strategy-based model.

Work stream 1: My Virgin Media (VM Online portal)

Working in a UI, UX pair, we were asked to initially fix the existing platform, with the soul business initiative, to reduce calls to the call centre and increase the sales orders online. Through research, discovery and initiative we discovered that the existing platform was no longer fit for purpose. So, we were then asked to redesign the whole of, My Virgin Media, while aligning with business requirements.

Areas Design

  • My VM dashboard journeys and scenarios

  • Billing pages

  • Billing educational piece (Bill explainer)

  • Forgotten username & Password

  • Customer home moving journey (Movers)

This included

  • Audit and revamping the My Virgin Media dashboard, making journeys start to the journey and more inviting one (rewrite this, as makes no sense).

  • Makes it more customer friendly and intuitive, increasing customer use, on their personal accounts

  • Educate user of multiple changes throughout their logged in account (This was done through the update of the bill explainer interactive page)

  • Redesign billing areas making it more efficient for customers to self-service, (i.e. paying bills online, checking their broadband connectivity, receiving notifications that they have upgrades or loyalty deals).

  • Key objective was to insure VM remains competitive and current

  • Introduce a new design system that would the billing page to have longevity.

Virgin Media (Logged-in) Billing pages

Each section of the billing page was designs as an individual design element introducing the beginning of a new design system for MyVM.

Working with the AIMIA team to breathe new life in the Nectar brand with a new responsive website and app design. Material design and function were implemented throughout the whole site and app. Strategising and planning the user journeys (UX) and coming up with suitable clear design that would move the brand into a more modern space.

Also worked close with the dev team, creating specs and stylesheets for them to follow to build the final design.

Furthermore strategising with the marketing team to come up with solutions to client and consumer feedback

Mobile App

Ripples App

This is ripples! Just me having a bit of fun with design.  I was listening to some music the other day and I had a glass of water on top of a speaker (not very smart :s), but anyhoo, I was just watching the effect of the water in the glass and thought that would be a nice display for when music is playing on a screen (at least I think so anyway). Sooo Ripples was born that morning and its an ongoing project. Hopefully i’ll get someone to code it up some people can have it! enjoy the first visuals! Peace 😉

The 2 circles represent the ripples in the water. I design it real quickly but i love the concept. It’s simple, clean, straight to the point. The colour I’ve used are from a cool palette. A lot of blue and mixtures of green, with the obvious suggestion of water.

Jack Daniels

BBQ Grilling App

I recently worked on a contract with some great people at Communicator. This project was for Jack Daniel’s and it was called the ‘Grill Buddy’.

To celebrate 25 years of Jack Daniel’s and so share a summer vibe, Jack Daniel’s and Communicator created the Jack Daniel’s Grill Buddy App. It’s the one stop shop for the perfect BBQ; including championship recipes, perfect drink serves and a grill timer to ensure all meat is perfectly cooked.

The App is supported on Android and iOS; had an nifty weather indicator to see if its a good day for a BBQ in your area and social share functions for you to share tantalizing photos of food and drinks.

Shout out to all the people at great people at Communicator who I worked with on this project. Truly an exiting project.

Also a big cheers to Mr. Jack himself and all the people at Jack Danial’s
